Maths refection 2015

For maths this year I am in the FOZZIES and my teacher was Mrs Taaffe. Every Tuesday and Friday we have meetings and we have IXL activities to do with the work we are doing. Every Tuesday we get one or two AWS pages and mark one or two. This week we did a tessellation worksheet and we had to fill the hole square box with all of the five shapes that is on the sheet. Every week we have to do MDR. MDR is a worksheet with 20 questions but on Friday we have 25 questions. I have enjoyed doing IXL this year because it is new to me and sometimes it is easy and sometimes it is hard. I have improved heaps in maths especially in telling which triangles are which. At first triangles were hard to tell which one is which but now the challenging thing is the decimal numbers. My goals are to get all of y questions right in my post test. Here is a photo of a IXL activity.

iDrive

For iDrive I finished my face today. All I had to do was do the outline and we had to go round it twice. Then when I had finished my outlines I put glitter on it. The colours of glitter I put on was purple, sliver and red. I used purple and sliver of the hair and I used red for the lips. Summer and Olivia finished to. When we did the outline it looked way better than before because it made it stand out more than before. We had to be resilience because sometime we made a mistake with the glue or pen but we carried on. The best part I enjoyed was putting the glitter on because we could put the colours together. High jump

A few weeks ago we started to practice high jump for athletics on Monday. I need to improve my scissor jump not really the running. I made it over for my first time this year. Here is a video of my first time doing it.    

iDrive PMI

What I found positive is that we can choose what to do and who to work with. I liked doing the sand pit the most because we made big volcanoes and we put baking soda and vinegar in and then we put them together in a cup and made the volcanoes explode. Another positive is that there are not 1 2 or 3 things to pick out of. You can go to a house on iDrive Street more than once.

There are not very many minuses  but I don’t like it when people are doing it their way and not in a group and when they are ignoring you. Sometimes you finish early and you don’t know what to do. Sometimes people just take all of the stuff and don’t share. There could be more stuff to do because some people have done everything.

What I found interesting with iDrive is that we can choose what we want to do and who to work with. In iDrive we use lots of the Learning Powers. The one that I used the most is Resilience and Being Me. Each Thursday that we do iDrive you learn something new that you didn't know. We had to work together as a team to make one big thing.

Labour day

In New Zealand, Labour Day is a public holiday held on the fourth Monday in October. Labour day is an acknowledgement of the eight hour working day. Samuel Parnell refused to work more than eight hours a day because some people worked more than 8 hours each day. On Labour Day each person gets a day off school and work. Happy Labour day.

iDrive reflection

This week for iDrive I did art. For art we did our paintings from last term and I have finished painting it now but I still need to go over it with black pen. The hardest part was making sure all of the edges were tidy and the blending was quite hard too and one of the easy parts was painting the background. The learning power I used was Resilience because you could not get the right colour all of the time and sometimes you mess up. Sometimes we had to problem solve because sometimes you paint in the wrong place like over your lines. The best part I liked so far was painting because we get to make new colours that you did not know how to make. Here is a photo of my art.

Learning In The Making Conference

Last Friday it was the Learning In The Making Conference. The first thing I did was claymation it was fun we had to take photos of us moving the thing that we made Stella, Freya and I made three polar bears two little ones and a mother and Icebergs and they float away on them and them came back together and it looked cool when we saw it together. Then next thing I did was hot dog spaghetti we had to put spaghetti into hot dogs and then we had to cook them when they were cooking we did some colouring in. Then we ate them. The next thing I did was hand knitting. For knitting I made a flower badge. The flower was white and there were spots on it and we had to do it by our self but if we got stuck we could get some help and I got stuck so I needed help. The the last one was science. For science we had to try and lift a paper clip with a battery, copper wire and nail and we did it. Then when we did it we lifted lots of other things. Knuckle bones

This week for iDrive Elizabeth, Kate, Brooke and I played knuckle bones. This is how you play knuckle bones in the  1, 2 , 3, and 4 zies. You through it in the air and try and catch as many as you can. Then you keep on throwing it into the air and picking it up off the ground. I wasn't really good at it and it was my second time playing it. Elizabeth made it up to scatter 3 but I only made it up to 1 zies. Brooke and Kate did random levels. The levels go like this 1 zies, 2 zies, 3 zies, 4 zies and then scatter 1, scatter 2, scatter 3 and scatter 4. But Elizabeth only got up to scatters that why I went up to scatters. The learning power that we used is resilience because we keeped on dropping them on the ground.

The life of Princess Diana

Diana, Princess Of Wales, was the first wife of Prince Charles. She was born on 1st July, 1961, and died in a terrible car accident in Paris, on the 31st August 1997.

Diana was born into a family of British nobility with royal ancestry as the Honourable Diana Spencer. She was the fourth child and third daughter of John Spencer, 8th Earl Spencer and the Honourable Frances Shand Kydd.

Diana’s wedding was held on the 29th of July 1981 and she married Prince Charles. Diana had two children their names are William and Harry. Princess Diana helped ill people that had cancer and had probable been in a crash. She also gave charity to people who need it.

iDrive Refection

This last week for iDrive Elizabeth and I did carpentry. The thing that we made was our names with nails, but we did not know what to do before. The first thing we had to do is to get the right size piece of wood. Elizabeth needed a big piece of wood because her name is longer and I had a smaller piece of wood because my name is shorter. Then we had to nail in the nails in the shape of our name. It was a bit hard because we need to get the nails the right size. Then we painted it I painted mine pink and blue and so did Elizabeth. Now I have to put the wool on it and here is a photo of where I am up to.

iDrive Refection

This week for iDrive I did playdough with me and my friends. I made a bunny, a baby bunny and two carrots one for the baby and one for the big bunny. One of my friends made a bunny and turtle. Another of my friends made a penguin and another one of my friends made a tiger and we called the place The Magical Zoo. We called it The Magical  Zoo because the animals were different colours they were blue, green, yellow and white. All of the animals were cute and colourful. Here are some photos of them.

iDrive Refection

For idrive Stella and I used the blocks. We made the mayors family's house, the pool, a sign and a slide that goes into the pool. The family was teddy bears. The big green Teddy bear is the mayor, the middle red one is the mother bear and the little bears are the children. To make the house, the slide, the sign and the pool we had to problem solve because the sign kept falling down. Here are some photos.

Art Reflection for term 2

Last term we did lino art and we had to carve out a pattern in the lino. For art we had different groups and I choose tapa art with Mrs Heaven. The first thing we did was plan. For planning we had to draw some patterns on a piece of paper. Then we had to choose two patterns or one and I choose one. If we chose one pattern we had to do the opposite of the pattern. Then we had to draw the pattern on the lino then carve the pattern out. Then we got to print our first print I did my first print pink then we had to crave out some more. When we had craved out some more we could do another print. If you had some more time you could do four but I only did three prints. The best part I liked was the craving. I think the finished product looks good and here is what it looks like when it is done.

Idrive

On Thursdays we do idrive and for idrive this week I did craft. For craft me and Elizabeth, did a flower garden and a farmer in the flower garden. We made the flower garden and the fun part was making the flowers and the person. The tricky part was fingering out what to make because we were not sure what to make. We made the flower garden out of the card people and paper.

Holiday Recount

This holiday a went to rainbow springs in Rotorua. The first thing we saw was the lizards and it looked liked one was trying to get out. Then we went to see the bird show. At the bird show they were showing us all of the bird tricks and what they can do and when they do a trick the bird gets a treat. After the bird show we  saw some trout and birds. The trout were in a pond and you could feed them. The birds were in their cages and we could go in the cages with the birds.


In the afternoon we saw some animals at the petting zoo and we went in the petting zoo. After the petting zoo we went on the playground at the playground we saw a big brown weta. There is a dark house with all of the kiwis in it. Then later we went on the big splash. When we went on the big splash we saw a eagle and at the end it went really fast and I went on it three time and got wet.

Reflection For Term 2

This is what I liked to do this term and what I have achieved this term. This term I liked Tuesdays and Thursdays. I liked Tuesdays because I get to do screen printing. For screen printing I liked drawing  stencil of what I am going to screen print. I like Thursdays more than Tuesdays because we get to do more things like iDrive, then Art. In iDrive I like to play cards with Ella and Elizabeth. The game I liked to play is 7 up. For reading I liked to do book club when we were reading Mr Skip and The One and Only Ivan. the role I like to be is illustrative engineer. I like to be illustrative engineer because you get to draw a picture on a google drawing. This term I have achieved putting more detail in my writing.

Next term I am looking forward to art and book club. I am looking forward to book club because we are reading a new book and it is called Ethan’s Voice. I am looking forward to art because we don’t know what we are going to do. The teachers present their activity without telling us so we have to listen carefully before we choose. Next term I would like to put more detail in my book club and more descriptive words in my writing and book club so people can tell what I am talking about, getting a picture in their mind.

Information about the queen of england

The Queen of England was born in 1926 on the 21st of April at 2.40 am and she is 89 years old. She celebrates two  birthdays each year one on her birthday the 21st of April and her official on a Saturday in June . Her full name is Elizabeth Alexandra Mary. 

They where not expecting that her father would become King. The Queen of England was the first child of The Duke and Duchess of York, who later became King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. The Queen of England was named after her mother and her middle name was named after her grandmother. She celebrates
her birthday because she is special person and the Queen

I chose this quote because its about not giving up and trying your hardest to complete your goal that you set for your self. At camp we did rock wall and it was hard because your arm and legs start to ache and that's why I chose this quote.

Mothers Day

Last week on Friday it was Mothers Day. For Mothers Day we did jars. If our mums were here they could help us with the jar for them and we could show them around the class rooms. Afterwards we gave them the pendant we had made for our mums or we could give them the pendants at home. After  we had finished the mums could have a scone in the staff room and then we could go home.

Creative Connector

This week for book club I am the creative connector. For the creative connector you need to find a Paragraph with a thing that had happened in the past. Then you write the Paragraph and the thing you did and you write in your book or on your computer.

Art for mother's day

For our mothers we are making pendants for them. We uesd air dry clay and we made different shapes with it. When they were dry we put ink on it if it was to dark we could wipe it with a tissue and put water on it. When it is mother's day we will give them to our mums.

Nurses at war

Nursing was the only official way for women to go overseas during the war. Being a nurse was punishing and hot work. Some of the nurses went to look after the soldiers on a hospital ship, or White Ship it was sometimes called. Many soldiers got affected by mustard gas with burnt, swollen eyes and blistered throats. Nurses looked after shell shocked soldiers, amputees, bullet wounds, frost bite and much more.

Totara Springs

This week I went to Totara Springs. The first day we were there we just unpacked and had free time. The next day we did  absailing and the flying fox and other cool activitys. The first night we spent there we went to a forest and most of the dads scared us. The second night we went eeling and I caught a eel there is a photo of our group with the eel at the bottom. After we caught eel we roasted marshmallow and we made them into marshmallow sandwichs with biscuits. the next day we went to the hydroslide and the hot pool and then we left.

Art

This week I did art with Miss Sixsmith. I am up to pasteling for the background. For art we are doing cityscapes. For the background we are doing circles and for the city we are drawing a city. I just have to do some pasteling and draw my city. This is what my art looks like now.

Jelly Tips Book Club

The Jelly Tips are reading 'The One and Only Ivan' for Book Club. Book Club is when we meet together and talk about the book. There are lots of different roles like Discussion Director and Summeriser. I will get to have a turn at all of them. I am looking forward to doing Discussion Director because I get to start the meeting.
