Weekly Reflection

This week I enjoy swimming because I have not been in the pool for a long time and I really like swimming. I also enjoyed jazz band because the teachers from the college came down to work with us and practice our music that we are playing at prizegiving. Something I want to achieve is my give a little milestone because I completed my Duolingo milestone this week. Something different was having to do a workshop about our IEs, I took a workshop in Whetu about how to make goats cheese.

School Athletics

Yesterday was school athletics, year 4s and up went to the domain. First I had high jump we started at 90 cm and went up 5 cm each time we got up to 1m but I could not get over it. We had to stop halfway through because we had to do the 100m sprint we had 3 heats I don’t know what I came. Then we went straight to long jump, my longest was 3.11. Then we went to shot put my longest was 5 something. Then we had 200m I don’t know what I got either. If you did not finish high jump you went back. When I had finished all my events I got an ice-block and watched my sister.

Matamata Show

On Saturday the 7 of October, I went to the Matamata show. It is my first show of the year. First was leading, second was rearing and last was dairy type. There were 45 seniors altogether.

For leading some of the calves in our ring did not want to walk. I think my lead quite well. She got me a sixth because some of the calves lead better than mine, but it was quite close between all the calves.

For rearing the judge would see how clean your calf was and if you can handle them good. The judge can also ask you questions about your calf. When the judge asked me what my calf’s name is I forgot it because I was really nervous.I did not get anywhere for rearing.

Before dairy type, there was a really big gap because they saw who would win champion of champion. For dairy type, you don't really need to do much except you have to choose a good calf and stand it good in the ring I don't really know how good my calf did because I don’t know what the calf needs to have or not have. I did not get anywhere for dairy type either.

After we have done our calves and packed them up, we get to go on the rides and get some food. I got an ice-cream, cotton candy, and a hot chocolate. I also went on a ride where you sit down on a chair hanging and it spins you around and around. After we went home, on the way back we got McDonald's. I had a really good day and it was also my first time going.

Term 3 Reflection

My three favorite experiences this year are,
Volleyball because I have never done it before.
Learning In The Making, because I was over 2 days and I got to present.
Cross Country because we got to run a different track than last year.
I have learnt how to play volleyball. If I could change something what would it be, I would change not sitting next to my friends as much. My goal for next term is to complete my language milestone.

Volleyball Reflection

For a few weeks, we did volleyball at the college. Some of the year 12 taught us. We had 3 couches Morgan, Paige, and Josh. We had eight people in our team Summer, Ella, Cullum C, Finn, Luke, Layla, Neo and me. I learnt how to serve, dig, set and spike the ball. My favorite thing was the set, it’s when you put your hands over your head and hit it. The hardest thing for me was choosing the right skill for the right thing because I kept setting when I was meant to dig it. I really liked it and can’t wait to do it next year!

Airless Tires, a new Innovation or an Invention

6 years ago Bridgestone released the airless car tire but now they have released the airless bike tires With the car version, the tires don’t use the air tubes. This lets it support the weight of the rider while absorbing road shocks, all without the risk of a flat tire. That means less work and a much lower chance of finding yourself stuck on the side of the road without anything to help yourself. Unlike the car version, Bridgestone has a timetable for the Airless Bicycle Tires. According to the outfit, it will be available to the public by 2019.

Hyper Fiction on Apollo 11

We were walking up to the spaceship a bit scared because we don’t know what will happen. When we got on we buckled up ready for taking off then the countdown started. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, BLAST OFF. We started going up 3 days and then finally we got there. We started having a party on the moon. We also brought a goat to see what it would do. We collected some moon cheese and went back home everyone was really proud of us when we got back.

Camping

Once upon a time, there was a girl with a group of friends. They were called Alexa, Ella, Elizabeth, and Summer. On Friday afternoon when they were at school they all agreed on going camping in the woods. All their parents said yes, if there was an adult coming they all got dropped off at the camping site but they were waiting for Ella and her dad.  About 1 hour later Ella came with her dad because their alarms weren’t working, so they got up at 9 a.m. instead of 8 a.m.

When they got there we had already set up the big tent for Ella, Elizabeth, Summer and me to sleep in. Ella’s dad was trying to set up his tent but he just got stuck in it. So we all helped him set it up. It was about 5 pm so we drove to McDonald's to get some food because we were really hungry. Then we went to Pak'nsave to get some marshmallows. When we got back to the campsite we set up a fire to roast some marshmallows. While we were roasting marshmallows we saw my lost bunny so we grabbed her so I could take her home. At about 10 pm we went to sleep, but at 3 a.m, we got woken up by a bear and he started to rip the tent so we all ran out and kept running till we got to a big oak tree.

We stayed at the tree till morning so we could see where we were. In the distance, we saw a little cottage so we went to see if anybody was home. We knocked on the door even though it was open no one answer so we went in and the first thing we saw was. Some food there was cake, cookies slices, sausage rolls, and pies. We just ran over and started eating because we could not have breakfast. By the time we finished nearly all the food. We stayed there all day and all night but in the early hours of the morning, we all heard footsteps expect for Ella and her dad because they were asleep. We all were really scared so we woke up Ella and her dad and then into the room came… My pet bunny but following her was a little witch, we all started screaming. But the witch was nice and she didn’t want us to scream but we did then, I woke up and I wished it was not a dream.

Weekly Reflection

The thing I enjoyed the most was reading a lot more so I could make more bookmarks.
Most interesting was when Melissa Ingram came and told us her story of her trying and trying and not giving up on her dream. She also signed my computer case.
The thing I did not like was PE because we had to run around the domain.
My goal is to get my duolingo milestone done next week.

Persuasive Writing

Why winter is better than summer. Summer can get really hot and all you want to do is go swimming or stay in the shade for the whole day. Summer can also be dangerous like having big fires, getting a really bad sunburn, you can also get really tired in the summer because of the heat. You can also get heatstroke. In winter it can also be dangerous if you live in the snow, but it is also really fun if you live in the snow like snowball fights, sledding and lots more! It’s not really that hard to warm up in winter you just need to put the heater on and lots of warm clothes and thermals. You can also have lots of warm blankets on you and a hot chocolate. One of my favorite things to do when it wet and cold get some blankets, a hot chocolate and watch a movie. In winter you get to play sports and you don’t get a hot and sweaty. If our winter sports were in summer all we would want to do is get drinks and stay in the shade. In winter there is also bees and wasps that sting you. That's why I think winter is better than summer!

Attack at Ariana Grande Manchester concert

In the afternoon is saw that there has been a bombing at Ariana Grande's concert in Manchester. I heard that there has been at least 22 killed and 50 injured from the bombing. When lots of people were leaving a really big explosion went of at 10:30.p.m local time. The police that were on the scene said the bomber died at the bombing.

After the bombing happened Ariana Grande was not injured but she tweeted a message saying broken. from the bottom off my heart, I am so so sorry. I don’t have words. The youngest person to die from the bombing was Saffie Rose Rosssos, she was 8 years old when she died.

Gymnastics

This week we have started to do gymnastics at school for a. We started doing gymnastics because we could enter a competition for gymnastics and there is also a cheer leading one we will start next week is we want to. There are three different groups the Springers is the easiest one, the Flyers is the middle the and the Twisters are the hardest. For each one we have Beam Floor and Vault.

I am doing the Twisters because I want to give myself a challenge this time, I also want to do the cheer leading because I want to try something new that I have never done before. The hardest bit for me will be the Vault because you have to jump go into a handstand and then go into a front roll. I also think that the beam will be hard because for the ending I  have to do a round off off the beam on to a mat.

At lunch sometimes we do gymnastics on the grass for some fun. One lunch time we were doing gymnastics and I got a new skill I got my round off! Now I can do it I found it really easy to do but sometimes I don't always land I 2 feet but I will still keep trying to get it every time. I also got my handstand in to bridge a few days before.

Winter Sport

For winter I am playing soccer for the Hauraki Plains Junior Soccer Club in 13th grade, we have two teams the Pythons and the Panthers. I am in the Pythons, the position I like to play is midfield on the left or right wing of the field. I like being midfield because If somethings happening down the back or the front I can go there.

We have done a few practices and our first game is on Saturday in Whenuakite At 9.am. I am enjoying the sport a lot because I moved up to 13th grade and we do  game both the panthers and pythons train together so we usually have a game against each other. The thing that I don't enjoy is that sometimes I get blisters on my heal. We support each other buy saying don't give up, keep going and some other things.
If you are a space lover you might be able to buy a 4.6 billion year old meteorite. It will go on sale in New York. It will be on sale at Christie’s auction house in New York. The bidding for the meteorite starts at $20,000.

The rare rock is part of the Deep Impact, Martian, Lunar and Other Rare Meteorites, series. The online auction will run until, Wednesday, May 10th. The meteorite is part of the famous Allende meteorite. The meteorite exploded over the Mexican state in 1969. Scientists got the fragments and found out that they were a very rare type of meteorite.

Famous New Zealand Paintings Stolen

Famous portraits by Czech artist Gottfried Lindauer have been taken from an Auckland gallery. The two paintings, which were painted in 1884, were taken from inside the glass window at the International Art Centre in Parnell. The two paintings, one of Chieftainess Ngatai–Raure and and the other of Chief Ngatai-Raure, were due to be auctioned in the coming weeks. Their value was between NZ$350,000 to NZ$450,000 each .New Zealand police said the theft occurred at 4am on Saturday. Police were concerned the paintings may be smuggled out of New Zealand. They had found the vehicle used to break the window to get into the museum and  were searching for another. Such heists were usually done by opportunists looking to make money quiet fast, but the distinctive nature of the portraits would make that very difficult. Jackson said border police and Interpol would have been alerted to keep a lookout for the stolen portraits but there was a risk they could already have suffered some damage.

If you met Richie McCaw what would you ask him

  1. What OPEN question would you ask him?  What do you need to do to be a awesome leader?
  2. What would you thank him for? Being a awesome leader and help make the movie
  3. What else would you say to him/ask him about/tell him…? How much dedication does it take to be a GAB?

3 words about Richie McCaw

Richie McCaw Movie

A few days ago we watched the Richie McCaw movie and we had to make 5 key points of more about it.
Here are mine

  1. Success is a lousy teacher because it does not really teach you anything.
  2. Push yourself if you don’t push yourself you won't get anywhere.
3.Have a growth mindset to keep on trying.
4. Use your mistakes  to learn from.

5.Have a plan so you know what you need to work on.

Camp

What is your goal for camp?
To be able to climb up or near the top of the high ropes, because I have never really made it to the top of any climbing walls.

Why are you coming on camp?
To get away from my sister and brother, because they are annoying.
Make some new friends because I don’t normally play with other people.
Have Fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Get out of my comfort zone.

What skills, strengths, qualities, powers do you possess that will help you have a really successful camp experience?
Use all the learning powers, because they are important in their own way. 1. Being Me means to be yourself and not someone else. 2.Connecting means to listen when someone is talking are share your ideas. 3.Resilience means to not give up and say I can’t do it yet.  4.Curiosity means you want to know what's next and what something means. 5.Creativity means you are creative in your own way and you want to be different.
Being able to be independent and work as a team because we might need to work as a team and not as a team.

What will you do if you have a problem at camp?
Tell a teacher or a adult on camp
Who will you speak to?
The person who was making the problem, a teacher or an adult
What will help you solve your problem?
Telling the person to stop, tell an adult or teacher, or ignore them.
How will you be an effective team member in your car group, activity group and cabin group?
Listen to all their ideas and what they are thinking.

What will we see or hear?
We will see and hear huka falls. We will also see and hear lots of nature when we are driving and walking.
