Term 4 Reflection

What have you enjoyed this term and why?

• Impact because I got to do some mosaicing and I learnt how to mosaic.
• Starting Swimming  because we start to do lengths and sometimes have free time.
• Jazz Band because we have been learning two different songs to play at the end of year assembly.

What has been challenging this term and why?

• Impact because mosaicing is just like a puzzle and the pieces need to be just right.
• Athletics because I have been having a sore heel when I run.
• Homework Project because it was hard to stick the cotton on the llama.

What are you looking forward to next year? Year 7 camp because we will get to do lots of diffrent thing. Tech because we get to go to the college and try new thing that we might not have done

Homework Project Update

On Monday the 20th our teachers gave us a homework project instead of basic facts math sheet. This will be our 2nd homework project, for the first one we had to make something out of polystyrene and now a milk bottle. My idea is to do a llama sitting on some grass. I am up to putting on the ears, tail and legs. When I tried putting on the legs they fell off so I am trying a different way now. Here are some photo’s.

Calf Club

On Wednesday last week we had Calf Club. I brought my calf called Wisteria Moo! She is mostly black but she is full jersey. She got me lots of ribbons. A 5th for obstacle, leading 2ed and a reserve Champion that came with a trophy. Rearing 6th and dairy type 4th. She is the best calf I have ever had and my favorite. My friend Ella got 2 champions for leading and obstacle. I did not dress my calf up. But my friends did.

Learning in the making conference

On Friday we had the learning in the making conference. First we had someone speak to us on skype about our learning and the conference. I had yoga first it was fun we got to do lots of different poses. We did upward and downward facing dog and lots more. The second thing I did was hotdog pasta we got to eat it for lunch and it was really yummy. The third thing I did was team building we had to work as a team to do all the tasks. We completed all the tasks we were set. The last one was the best it was making caramel slice it was really easy to make. After we made it we got to eat it and it was yummy and we got to take some home.

Holiday recount

In the holidays I went to do my calf at the Pirie’s farm. My calf is called Wisteria moo. She is jersey but she is black and she looks like a cross breed. Most of the days on the 2nd week of the holidays with Summer and sometimes other people. My calf is really soft but she is bad at leading. On the driveway she leads really well and sometimes she starts to run. We gave her a full body wash and it was her first time. Wisteria Moo keeps herself clean most of the time but sometime she does not.

In the first week of the holidays I went to Elizabeth’s house and stayed the night. I saw her kittens one of them scratched me. The first thing we did was go to Thames. We went to Computer Geeks because their computer was not working. There was this little puppy in the corner and it kept on jumping up and down. Then we went shopping for some food. We got a frozen fanta and some chips. We saw a face painting thing  and we got our faces painted. I was a bunny and Elizabeth was a cat. We made two things a chocolate brownie and cumin seed cheese they were yummy. For the rest of the time we played outside and with the board games.

Homework Project

On Monday week 3 we got a polystyrene cylinder and we had to make it into something. We had 2 weeks to finish it and on Friday week 5 we we brought our one in. I did a cake with real icing. I got the idea because we found old cake things. I got a little help from my Mum because cuting it was a bit hard. First we had to cut out the shape of the cake it had 4 layers. Next we had to make the icing and put it on the cake. Sometimes the icing kept falling off. Now it was on to decorating. I put strawberries, lollies and sprinkles. I think it looked really good at the end and I think I had put a lot of hard work into it. When I saw everyone else's I thought they all had put a lot of hard work into them. My favorites were Elizabeth’s Chicken and Isabella’s caterpillar. The hardest bit was the cutting or the icing. My favourite bit was the decorating. Here are some photos my cake.

Cross Country

On Monday we had Cross Country but I could not do it because I hurt my ankle. I hurt my ankle at soccer so I am not allowed to run. I could not do Cross Country training either. A few weeks after I hurt it we went to the doctors and the doctor said I had to get an x-ray. The next morning we went to the hospital to get an x-ray. They said that nothing was broken. A few weeks later we went back to the doctors because it was still hurting. For 1 more week I was not allowed to run and I had to have some tablets everyday. The tablets helped a little bit but it still hurts.

My goals for the term

My maths goals are:

• Solve a word problem involving writing an equation.
• Working out algebraic equations. Solving word problems using a given rule.
• Understand place value of decimal numbers.

Some of my literacy goals are:

• Use the correct tense.
• Use language features e.g similes & onomatopoeia; and visual language features e.g. illustrations and diagrams.
• Independently choose a ‘hook’ for my audience.
• Add and delete punctuation.

One of my personal goals is to get a 1st place ribbon in calf club. I am on track to achieve my goal because I do lots of brushing on my calf and I will soon start leading it. My favorite part of this year has been iDrive. I am look forward to Impact this year because we are giving the art room a makeover.

The Olympics

This year the Olympics are being held in Rio De Janeiro. It is summer in Rio so it will be the 2016 summer Olympics. The opening and the closing ceremony will take place in the Maracanã Stadium. Maracanã Stadium is found in Rio and it has held lots of soccer games. This year there are 56 sports that are represented. These are some of the sports swimming, boxing, athletics and lots more. The sports we don’t really do in New Zealand is handball and water polo. I am looking forward to watching the gymnastics, swimming and most of the other sports that are in the Olympics.

Holiday Recount

In the holidays I went to see the BFG in Hamilton with my Mum. It was a really good movie and it is like the book too. My Nana, sister and brother went to see Finding Dory. We did some shopping too. We got to have a ice-cream after as well at Mcdonalds. We went to Hamilton to do some more shopping. After to a museum and it had lots of cool things like. different types of paintings that were painted in the 1990s. On Friday I went to the doctors to see what I did to my ankle. The doctor said that I have to have a X-ray. The day after I went to the doctors I went to Thames Hospital to get the X-ray done. She said that it was not broken but I can't run on it for a month. After we went to get some food.

This week we did something different. We used all our Learning Powers in one week. 1. I liked this week because we got to do something different to normal. 2. We got to work with different people and not just our friends. 3. That we win points and at the end of the week the team with the most points gets a prize.	The stuff I did not like was... 1. When people didn't get along very well when they didn’t listen to their ideas. 2. When some of the people in the team are not being positive. 3. When they keep on arguing with other people because they thought i was not work.	The things I found interesting was… 1. That we could pile lots of balloons on top of each other and it would stay for some people. 2. That we could build a boat out of recycled things and it would float in water. 3. How we get to know more stuff about the people in the group and how others react to the people in our group.

Ice Skating

Last week most of us went ice-skating on Thursday at school. I went at 1:00pm-2:00pm. On the side of the rink there was inflatable walls that we could hold onto and there was bunting above the inflatable walls. There were three groups because the rink was to small for all of us. For ice-skating we had to wear gloves and boots. At the start I fell over heaps but I got better at the end of it. When you fall over some of the ice got on you. I had a great time there.

String art

For the last six weeks we have been working on string art. The silhouette I did is three hearts in a row. First we had to plan what we were going to do. Second we had to find a photo of what we are going to do. Third thing we had to is get a piece of wood. Fourth we had to nail in the nails on to the piece of wood. Fifth we had to put the string to do. The thing I found challenging is putting the wool on because sometimes it fell off. The thing I found the easiest was choosing the silhouette because I had something in mind. Here are some photos:

Queen’s Birthday

Queen’s Birthday

The Queen of England was born in 1926 on the 21st of April at 2.40 am and she turned 90 years old. She celebrates two  birthdays each year one on her birthday the 21st of April. She celebrates her birthday because she is special person and the Queen. The Queen’s birthday is celebrated on the 6th of June this year in New Zealand. We celebrate the Queen’s Birthday in New Zealand because she is Queen of the of 12 countries and the United Kingdom. For the long weekend I am going to go shopping for Summer’s Birthday present.

Sports Report

Last weekend I played soccer and versed the Tairua Marlins at Ngatea. We lost sadly but it was a fun game. After the game I got a blister but it has gone now. The position that I played as is attack and midfield. I think midfield was the hardest because we have to go forward and backward. But attack was hard too because the Tairua Marlins stole the ball off of us. Next weekend we are versing Mercury Bay, but they are coming to Ngatea.

We got to get the pot plants ready for when we are going to plant somethings. We got to see how the garden was doing. That we worked with different people I don't work with that offen.	That it started to rain and we had to go back. That we had a small group to weed two gardens. Sometimes people were not listening to what other people have to say.	When we went back we started planning what to plant. That we had to see what plants we could plant in winter. Most of the time all of us were getting along with each other.

Celebrate your learning

For book club I did a role and the role was Illustrator. It is my favourite role because it is the best one I have ever done. The book that I did this picture on is how I alienated my grandma so far it has been a funny book. This picture is the one I did:

My holiday recount

In the holidays I went to see the Hunt for the Wilderpeople in Hamilton. Before we went to the movie we went shopping. We went to the Warehouse to get me a jumper because I had none. The jumper that I got has a leopard pattern on it. The background is white and the pattern is a golden colour. After that we went to see the movie and got some lollies before we went in to the movies. It was a good movie to go and see in hamilton.

In the holidays we went to Rotorua to see some New Zealand falcons. Before we went to see them we had a little look around Rotorua. First we went to the water side and the playground. At the water side we saw a jet boat, air force plane and a cruise ship that goes around the lake. After that we went to get something to eat. I went to burger king and got a burger, ice-cream sundae and a frozen LP. After that we went to see the falcons that were doing a show. I got to hold one that's name is Ozzy. Then we left but when we got to Matamata we had something to eat at Mcdonalds.

My Flag Debate

Which flag design did you support and Why?	I like the new flag because it looks different to all of the other flags in the world. It would be good to have a change.
What are your opinions on the flag debate?	I don’t like that there was no change to the flag. It was just a waste of money and they could have used it for other things. I think we should have changed it because it looks like the Australian flag.
How did you feel when the resolve was announced?	Sad because they used a lot of money on the flag debate and the flag didn’t change. I feel happy as well because our parents don't have to vote any more.

Easter

Easter is a Christian tradition celebrating the resurrection of Christ and is considered the most important celebration in the Christian calendar, but for a country like New Zealand that over the past few years Easter has become less about faith and more about chocolate eggs and bunny rabbits! It is simply a lovely long weekend with plenty of sweet treats!  Good Friday is the Friday before Easter and this year Easter is on March the 25th. On Good Friday It is a public holiday so there is no school and work.

Easter is when you get some chocolate from the Easter bunny and some people have treasure hunts. The custom of giving eggs at Easter celebrates new life. Christians remember that Jesus, after dying on the cross and the cross is on the hot cross bun. For Christians the egg is a symbol of Jesus. For Easter we have a Easter egg hunt and we get lots of yummy eggs when we compete it. The Easter bunny does vist our house and gives us very yummy eggs for breakfast.

Dear Mrs Lindsay

I am ten years old and I have a younger sister and a older brother named Tayla and Matthew. My Mum's birthday is four days before my sister. Was born on the 17th of August 2005 at Hamilton hospital. My favourite things to do is play the saxophone, read books and take care of animals. In my spare time I like to read. My favourite animals are owls, bunnies and turtles.

My three favourite subjects at school are art, writing and music. They are my favourite

because you get to be creative in all of them while having lots of fun. This is the only school I have been to I started when I was five and my first friend was Holly and now my friends are Ella, Elizabeth and Stella and some other people.

My favorite sports are soccer, athletics and swimming. In summer I do swimming club I started in the beginners group and now I am in the confident group. In my group I have some friends Ella and Summer. In swimming club we learn how to do the storks properly so we don't get disqualified. Sometimes we have points night at point nights we race our times and if we beat our time we get ribbons.

When it is winter I like to do calf club at the Pirie’s farm. I have had three calves and they are all jersey calves. My first calves name is Rosie, my second calves name is Nixie and my third calves name is Smudge. Smudge was my best calf because she got me lots of ribbons. At home I have a lot of ribbons from my calves. My goal for calf club is to get a champion ribbon.

This week I did jazz band on Thursday and I learned to play some new songs and some more notes like E and D. On Tuesday it was Thames Valley swimming sports and I was in three races. I came 9th, 12th and 13th in all of them. On Thursday we went for a swim and the pool toy was up and I got to go on it one time.	This week I did not really have any minus but this week I had Thames Valley and I had less time to get all of my work done.	This week we did some rhythm thing like make beats and we had to make a beat to a song and make our own beats. What I found interesting is that you can make rhythms to music. I found jazz band interesting because there are lots of different types of notes.
